The CDC and local health departments advise that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. CDC is not aware of any scientific reports of the virus that causes COVID-19 spreading to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, water playgrounds, or other treated aquatic venues.
Currently groups at public and private outdoor attractions are limited to no more than 25 people. If the group is larger, they must ensure the groups socially distance. Click here for more information.

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines
Manage Park Capacity: In compliance with state requirements for social gatherings, the number of guests admitted each day will be limited. Additionally, we will monitor capacity for each attraction and pool as an additional layer to ensure adequate social distancing. We will follow the established guidelines during each phase of the recovery process.
Face Mask: Is recommended when entering the park, standing in line at any of our concessions and inside the restrooms. All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must:
- Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
- Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
- Fit snugly by comfortably against the side of the face
- Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow Guest to remain hand-free
At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are NOT acceptable face covering.
Costume mask are also NOT considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rule. The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.
Masks are required for anyone 5 years and up.
Practice Social Distancing: Guests will be guided by signs and announcements to adhere to social distancing guidelines of at least six feet from others and limit interactions with those who are not in their party or household. Visual reminders will be marked to assist guests with social distancing guidelines while in line at the park entrance, attractions, restrooms, food service locations and more. Pool deck layouts will be modified to ensure distancing in all lounging and dining areas. Immediate family members who live in the same household can be closer together. All others should strictly adhere to the five maximum as mandated. Please follow social distancing guidelines very carefully and maintain a minimum of 6 feet/2 meters of space from others.
Promote Hand Hygiene & Respiratory Etiquette: Hand sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the park, and signs displayed. Encouraging all employees and guests to wash their hands often and cover their coughs and sneezes.
Clean, Disinfect and Sanitize on a Continuous Basis: The CDC states, “disinfection with chlorine…should inactivate the virus in the water.” The water in all attractions at Wet’n’Wild Hawaii is treated with chlorine. Over the past three years Wet’n’Wild Hawaii has invested in a world class water management system to ensure safe water for all guests. The system is a broad platform of solutions to monitor water quality 24/7 while using the latest in sanitation and filtration techniques. The system’s core components include:
VivoPointTM Certified Chemical Automation and Remote Monitoring: Used at many of the world’s leading resorts, the VivoPoint system a) automatically and real-time adjusts sanitation and water chemistry to ensure compliance with health department standards and b) provides alerts and notifications 24/7 of any issues that may arise.
NexGen on-site chlorine generation to ensure consistent and safe water quality through an innovative electrolysis process to manage both chlorine and pH levels. In addition, the NexGen unit minimizes the transport of dangerous chemicals.
Activated Glass Filtration media to more effectively filter out bacteria and other contaminants. This media, which has replaced traditional silica sand, is made from 100% recycled glass that goes through a patented process of decontamination, sterilization, shaping and activation. The media prevent the formation of biofilm that can lead to the growth of bacteria.
In addition to our already stringent cleaning procedures, our team members will be assigned duties that support additional cleanliness throughout the entire park, including disinfection of handrails, lounge chairs, cabanas, lockers, tabletops, tubes, mats, door handles, and other surfaces. We encourage you to read all instructional signs inside the park to maintain a safe environment for you as well as the other guests.
Encourage Electronic Payments: Guests are encouraged to purchase admission tickets online prior to arriving at the park to minimize interactions during the park entry experience. Guests are encouraged to use card or contactless payments instead of using cash while visiting.
Manage Use of Indoor Areas & Communal Spaces: Homeland Security’s biodefense research laboratory states, “sunlight seems to be very detrimental to the virus,” and “within minutes, the majority of the virus is inactivated on surfaces and in the air in direct sunlight.” Our guests spend their entire day outdoors in the sunshine or in shaded areas, except for the restrooms and other minor service areas which are disinfected routinely throughout the day. Employee break areas are expanded for social distancing and use of communal areas are staggered.
Provide a COVID-19 Response Team: A team of supervisors and managers will be available to respond to COVID-19 concerns from guests or employees. The response team acts on reported COVID-19 exposure events and notifies local health authorities, staff, and guests as required. They train staff on all safety protocols and ensure that the team is socially distanced during meetings and trainings. They manage the isolation of those who are sick and their transportation to home or a healthcare provider.
